A very odd day today, last night we were alerted to the fact
that materials had been delivered to the P&R and flailers were due to start
work on the site, we sent an e-mail into the planning applicant to ask what was
happening, we awoke this morning to discover that a notice was posted on the
BOP website saying that ground clearance was to start on the TSP site.
We are all a little taken aback as we did not expect any
work to commence on the site until planning permission had been granted,
especially as a Dept of the Council is the applicant in this regard, but
apparently it’s ok to do this, we are trying to get to the bottom of this and
will keep you posted. We wrote to the Chief Exec and he is due to come back to
us tomorrow.
Good thing is that when we informed Dorset Wildlife Trust
they said they would ask in the strongest of terms for BOP to stop any work and
not commence work again until they had undertaken their survey, we also
informed the Business Park Planning agents and they are to appoint a special
team to work on the application re objections which is a good outcome. The
reason we are concerned is that any objectors/ statutory consultees have not
yet been afforded the opportunity to undertake an independent wildlife survey,
separate to the Council survey and that seems rather irregular, we are told
that BOP have carried out a ‘survey’, we do not know to what extent, quick look
over or the full Environmental Impact Assessment, but we feel that anyone
should be able to effect a survey for themselves if they so wish!
Marc has got feedback from RSBP, thanks Marc, not stunningly
supportive of objections from them but we have sent a copy of his findings to
Business Park Planning agents for their ref as the info may be useful to them.
Ed raises a good point re legal reps but it is looking very
positive that the Business Park Planning agent will be building a strong case,
as they are appointing a ‘ team’ to fight this, they are happy to work with
John, Les and I which will support our objections so we may be supported by
proxy in this regard.
Thanks for all your confirmations re leaflets we will be
getting them to you over the weekend, we have still not been advised of where,
when or time of planning meeting but we will update you as soon as we know.
Just to let everyone know we were today informed of the
following;
Dear Cllrs
We will be undertaking some
essential maintenance works to the Creekmoor sheet Pile wall that goes under
the A350 Upton Bypass.
The works are due to commence
in April and be completed during July.
We are currently in the
process of procuring the works.
The Contractor will be using
the parcel of land of from Upton Road leading to Upton Bypass as per the
attached drawing. The A350 will not be affected during the works except
for short durations for delivery of materials etc.
The works involve
Encapsulating the working
area
Installing dams to control
water ingress from the Harbour/culvert
Installing over pumping
Using Ultra High water
Pressure to clean the sheet pile
Applying a protective coating
to the sheet piles.
We have a Maritime Management
Organisation licence to undertake the work, and have had an ecological surveys
carried out.
We will be undertaking a
letter drop to residents and putting signs up on site closer to the time.
Once we have a contractor in
place I will provide further information on the programme etc. which I
anticipate to be during early March.
We believe this is maintenance work and has been pending for
some time but John is going to check to see if this is separate works or part
of the TSP works, our concerns are that the bridge is to be strengthens to
perhaps create a pedestrian walkway for the travellers, John will keep you
posted re this.
Goodnight all.
Best always
Judes John and Les
